45 Christmas Picture Books

The Christmas season finally here, and I am so excited! What better way to fill your December with Christmas cheer than by a stack of charming Christmas books!

Have you ever heard of the “12 books of Christmas” activity? Or “25 books of Christmas”? This activity is a fun and simple way of incorporating literature into your daily routine as you count down the days till Christmas.

To begin, you will need wrapping paper and 12-15 books (or however many Christmas books you can gather). Wrap each book and place them under the tree. Each day, your child can pick a new book to open for the family to read together!

I personally use this activity with my class each year. I pick a variety of Christmas books, wrap them, and place the books under my little tree in the reading corner. Each day, I pull a popsicle stick with a child’s name on it and that child gets to pick a book to open. Then we read the book together gathered around my virtual fireplace. My students LOVE this short brain break in our daily routine to stop and marvel at the Christmas season!

  1. Thank you so much. I really like this list. This year we will unwrap a children’s book everyday of December before Christmas. Some of these books are wrapped up under the tree. Can’t wait to read them! #25DaysofChristmasBooks
